Hej. Spadły mi dzisiaj perfumy na działającego laptopa (akurat tam gdzie jest dysk), na maska się wystraszyłem (mam na nim ważne rzeczy), sprawdziłem SMARTa:

o co chodzi z tym pre-failure?

W związku z powyższym zamiaruję nowego dyzia, ale też jestem ciekaw, o co biega z tymi pre-failami.

smartctl manpage:

"The Attribute table printed out by smartctl also shows the "TYPE" of the Attribute. Attributes are one of two possible types: Pre-failure or Old age. Pre-failure Attributes are ones which, if less than or equal to their threshold values, indicate pending disk failure. Old age, or usage Attributes, are ones which indicate end-of-product life from old-age or normal aging and wearout, if the Attribute value is less than or equal to the threshold. Please note: the fact that an Attribute is of type ’Pre-fail’ does not mean that your disk is about to fail! It only has this meaning if the Attribute´s current Normalized value is less than or equal to the threshold value."

Innymi słowy - wartość jest powyżej bezpiecznej granicy, ale równie dobrze może to nic nie znaczyć - co widać na przykłądzie realocated sectors count - value zero a już jest pre-fail ;p

To mogą też być humory samego smarta, albo niekompatybilność smarta z dyziem.
Właśnie znalazłem stary log z 2010 roku, zrobiony jeszcze na Ubuntu 9.10,
i tam też były te same pre-faile, a dyzio chodził tak samo, jak obecnie. ;)

Z tego co pamiętam - u mnie pre-fail był od początku dysku na niektóre pola ;] więc bardzo możliwe że dobrze prawisz. Jako że SMART nie jest ustandaryzowany (czytaj, każdy producent może zamieszczać w 100% własne atrybuty) to możliwe jest że np. SMART wykrywa atrybut od 100 do null i interpretuje to tak że już się zwaliło - a producent po prostu nie ustalił granicy ;] wszystko możliwe.

To jest tylko nazwa typu atrybutu, na nowiutkim dysku będzie taka sama. Martwić się należy dopiero gdy znormalizowana wartość (VALUE, nie mylić z RAW_VALUE) jest mniejsza lub równa wartości progowej (THRESH).

Dzięki ArnVaker, więc wychodzi, że mój dysk jest w dobrym stanie. (rozumiem, że WORST to najgorsza wart jaka wystąpiła i udało się zanotować).

Partycję /home mam tą samą od jesieni 2007 roku, od czasów Ubuntu 7.10.
Dyzio jest z sierpnia 2007.

Jeśli te VALUE WORST THRESH są równe, dostaje się komunikat FAILING_NOW . Ale jeśi ten VALUE > THRESH to wygląda tak:

Po mojemu to to oznaczenie Pre-fail jest sugestią, że parametr jest kluczowy dla prawidłowego działania dysku.

Jak widać mimo że Power on Hours = 0 ;] to już parę prefailów jest ;]

Mam nadzieję że Toshiby są dobre i dysk pożyje trochę ;]
