Flesystem wkompilowany poprawny: ext3, pozatym dużo jest zostawione i tak modółów prawdopodobnie niepotrzebnych, więc raczej winien sam sobie załadować. Architektura sprzętowa Intelowska, więc wszelkie VIA/SIS/AMD itp. wylaczalem. W czym może być problem?

rozwiązanie:
podczas instalacji pakietu ze skompilowanym kernelem, należy dodać: --initrd (initrd sie nie stworzył po instalacji)

Nie trzeba initrd, wystarczy wbudować moduly potrzebne do startu systemu statycznie w jajo.
Co do błędu
Unable to mount rootfs....
to wystarczy wbudować na stałe system plików partycji root (a najlepiej wszystkich partycji na dysku) - czyli np ext*, reiserfs, xfs, ntfs, i fat/dos.
To wszystko, żadna magia.

Mam podobny problem, więc napiszę tu.
Po kompilacji 2.6.36-zen1 bez initrd dostaję:
Kernel panic - not syncing: No init found, Try passing init= option to kernel Pid: 0, comm: swapper Not tainted (2.6.36-zen1) Call trace: ...
Co najdziwniejsze nie dzieję się tak za każdym razem, tylko mniej-więcej przy połowie uruchomień.
Próbowałem już różnych rotacji w konfiguracji kernela - bezskutecznie, dodanie init=, jak sugerują, też nie działa. Próbowałem też innych sposobów, które znalazłem w internecie. Czyżby to był błąd w tej wersji? Na tym komputerze pierwszy raz kompilowałem zena, ale na innych 2.6.36-zen1 działa (chociaż tam kompilowałem z initrd).
