Nie wchodzi "czysto" instalowałem wcześniej z NVIDIA-Linux-x100-xx.xx.xx-pkg1.run a później z NVIDIA-Linux-x86-96.43.11-pkg1.run a tak napoczątku to zgodnie z tymi wskazówkami napisanymi w pierszym poście.

Więc zrestartowałem kompa i xy nie uruchomiły się bo xorg.conf był przerobiony przez nvidia-xconfig (chyba), zamieniłem to z tym standardowym a modprobe nvidia wyrzuca ten zam problem "FATAL: Error inserting nvidia (/lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/nvidia/nvidia.ko): No such device ". dpkg -l | grep linux daje coś takiego

Puść instalatora tego sterownika z opcją --uninstall trzeba odinstalowac to do porządku bo coś się ten modul krzaczy.
Nie dlubałeś tez cos module-assistantem ?
Jak odinstalujesz to zobacz czy w /lib/modules/2.6.26-1-686/nvidia/nvidia.ko nie ma przypadkiem tego sterownika.
Jesli będzie to wywalić ręcznie.
Dopiero od nowa instaluj sterownik.
modprobe nvidia musi wejsć na czysto.

motałem, dłubałem "wstyd aż się przyznać". zrobiłem uninstall i skasowałem nvidia.ko ale nie wiem czy przed instalacją nie muszę odmotać module-assistant, jak nie to instaluję na nowo :D , teraz pisze żeby wyłączyć xy. Mam coś zrobić z tym module-assistant ?

Sam module-assitant nie przeszkadza natomiast pytałem czy nie próbowałeś przypadkiem budowac steru nvidii module-assistantem.

Zadziałało, pojawił się znaczek NVIDIA na początku, przed gdm :d . Ale sieć mi wywaliło i muszę teraz na module z jądra śmigać który jest zamulony, mułem. Ilin znasz temat bo wczoraj pomogłeś mi tą siecówkę uruchomić :) . a co do dpkg -l | grep nvidia
